Marauders are going to hit the ground running
Doncaster Lakers are helping set up a new under 11's summer league targeting clubs in and around the Doncaster area. The league is being run by the newly formed Doncaster and District Development Group. The programme will create new clubs and new teams at existing clubs.

The summer festival series will take place over 4 weeks in June and July at local amateur clubs. Clubs are currently preparing themselves for the programme, with most clubs starting training over the next few weeks.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to develop junior rugby league in this area. Running programmes at this time of year means that we are not competing against football and rugby union for players and young people who want to play both sports can. The clubs who are involved are really keen to develop junior rugby and hopefully this can be the start of something big," said Dave Marshall, Development Manager for the Lakers.

If you are interested in being involved in this programme either as a player or volunteer, teams are been run at Blaby Carr Sports College, Bentley Good Companions ARLFC, Lincoln Knights ARC, Rossington Hornets ARLFC, Scunthorpe Barbarians ARLFC, Moorends-Thorne Marauders ARLFC and Toll Bar ARLFC. Under 11's Marauders put on a great showing
The young under 11's put on a great show on their own turf, looking the part in their new kit sponsored by Castleford bsed A1 Industries everyone of the youngsters looked the perfect rugby league animal.

The standard of the kids really impressed the large crowd that had gathered to watch the tourmament, ex-players like GB Amateur Internation Kev Nason said its a great testimony to Bri Hodgkiss and Howard Roberts who in a very short time have got the lads looking like mini me's of the first team.
