23 Oct 2007 - RFL Benevolent Fund supports Wembley 'boost' for injured players
Eight former Rugby League players who have all suffered life changing injuries enjoyed a visit to Saturday's Carnegie Challenge Cup Final at Wembley supported by the RFL Benevolent Fund.
The players - a mix of former professionals and amateurs - were Jimmy Gittins, Pete Stevenson, Matt King, Alan Trott, Paul Kilbride, John Burke, John Power and Dave Roebuck.
The players travelled to the match together and were hosted by the RFL in Wembley's Great Hall.
The trip enabled them to socialise with each other and share experiences of their daily lives.
The RFL Benevolent Fund Welfare officer Dave Phillips said,"Everybody has had a tremendous weekend and a thoroughly enjoyable time.
"The visit allowed the guys to renew acquaintances and it was highly beneficial for them."
£1 from every ticket purchased for the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final was donated to the RFL Benevolent Fund.
