Anyone who did not make it to the under 12's presentation night this is the poem for bri and howard from the team:-
Bri and Howard run our team keep us fit and keep us keen,
Our second coach was 6ft tall he's run around and now he's small,
Bri is funny in is own little way and as for Howard, we think he's gay,
Basically grumpy is our old Bri and when leeds lose he makes us cry,
You trained us hard the moorends way and come next season we'll have our day,
And now its time to take a break so raise your glass and celebrate,
we proved to all that were not cowards Thanks to bri and his little mate Howard.

Do you get the referees out of Lucky Bags, he completely gave them
everything in the second-half, well done to both sets of players because
the game could have become nasty.
another fed up guy
11 November 2007 00:00:00
We need them, We have to pay for them, We have to call them Sir,
We have to bite our tongue & accept their every decisions.

So why do the Referees controllers keep sending over weight,
unfit & often bias referees to take control of Amateur Premier
division games. (this is not a dig at all other divisions).

These referees do still have something to offer the amateur
game but it should be on the line at NCL games and the young
and up coming officials should be brought of the touchlines and
given control of games with a mentor to guide his/hers progress.

Over the last three weeks I have witnessed some of the poorest
referees in the last 30 years, its sad that amateur players train
their nuts off to raise their own standards to meet the demands
of the modern game. We then have the body of people who control
these young athletes looking like they have spent the last
10 years in the nearest bar , how many times do we have a
referee standing at the play the ball taking a rest whilst one
team attacks and then when he does finally get back 10 metres
to the defensive line, he then waits until the ball is played and
automatically move backwards 5 metres, if the attacking teams
losses ground the referee then stays where he is even if the play
the ball is 15 metres away.

This method of taking a breather will always put one of the teams
under pressure making the game between two balanced sides a lottery.

04 November 2007 00:00:00
110% better this week (3rd/November/2007) lads. The defensive work
you worked on in training paid dividends you could see that after you
had the game won your goal became to keep their score to nil.

Next week will be a different ball game against Myton Warriors,
a win would push us a further two places up the league table
into fifth place.

i agree on the fitness part but pride? u obv either dont know what your talking about, or you have been misinformed. everyone thats playing at the min are proud to be part of the moorends side, the reason they argue on the pitch is because they know things are not going right and they hate it and all they can talk bout after if how they can stop whatever is going wrong. i have been watching the last 2 years and all i can say is this is now a very young side and that people should give it a chance to gel. and it will as you yourself said the skills are all there.
On looker from the crowd
16 September 2007 00:00:00
Lots to work with and experience to come back.

This should be the blend for a very good side indeed,
there are all the skills within the club that are needed to make the play offs.

BUT and it is a big BUT, the team lacks fitness, controlled aggression & pride, these three thing are what everyone in amateur rugby league expect when being confronted by a Moorends side in the past,

(what was on show against Hunslet Old Boys was a herd of to many players with beer bellies),

The bellies let you down and are not contributing to the development of the new guys coming into the side (in fact its having the opposite effect)

Come on lads its time to buck up and earn the respect that goes with the Moorends name & shirt !

Feel good about wearing the Marauders shirt and make players want to come and also pull on the Blue and Yellow.

Four weeks hard graft will bring everyone up to par, bring wins under the belt and also bring back the fell good feeling that has been present in the last few years.

when is he back if at all? also saw cliff key on side lines, and no steve allen??
wasnt as bad as it looked alot of young green players in with plenty of potential, jus need to stop having a go at each other
when it gets tough and pull 2gether

Hi there, I saw your post on the conference forum about the crap publication of results and people wanting to know them quickly. I am the reporter for the Lincoln City Knights and I now have a contact at almost all of the clubs in our division but I could not find an email for Brid and the one to you bounced back. Basically I tend to email the result off to the other clubs when I get back and they do the same to me, so am now at a point where I have most results on Saturday evening. If you send me an email with your details, I can email or even ring you as soon as our game finishes to tell you the score etc. How does that sound?

Dear all

Please find enclosed team photo's of the lads that took part in a recent charity match at Moorends in the aid of Scott Collins who is being treated at Sheffield Royal Hallamshire hospital for a brain tumour
The event which is run from the Moorends Social club annually on behalf of local charities & good causes is based on a football match between the bar lads and members of Thorne/Moorends Moor Marauders Rugby League team plus anyone else that fancies a run out. All participants pay £5 for the privilege which culminates with a raffle and refreshments afterwards in the Social club
Donations from the club, Leeds Rhino's Rugby League club and other sporting memorabilia were raffled and the event raised a total of £520

"Where going to kill you lot because you are now Doncasters No2 Team summer team, Carver is a puff pack that only plays 10 minutes out of the 80 along with knotty who will be still drunk from what weve heard about him, your pack is old and are easy to made to bit, Sharks will be "CHAMPIONS"

Can i say categorically that i never said any of the comments in the second paragraph. It is appaling that someone has done this. My question was "What type of team are you putting out, and is Chris Allen playing". It was an innocent question. However, to be blunt i don't really care now. I don't endorse any of the comments i have supposed to have made, but lets just see what happens. I, and our coach for that matter, are only worried about one player, and they do say that one player doesn't make a team.
Maybe it is someone at your club who thinks these 'comments'?

Message for Jim.
Just returning your post on our message board.
Your right about the prem just being a side shift and not a step up. In fact I would say apart from the Ipswich game were I thought they were a very well drilled side the other teams so far would struggle in the Noth Mids league. Both Thorn and Lincoln (If the same team as last season) would have run riot in the Prem this year. We still have teams to play but so far we haven?t met a team as strong as thorn or Lincoln as yet.
I know we haven?t had a great start to the season but that?s been down to loss of players one to Ireland, one moved to Leicester, one gone to New Zealand for 4 weeks holiday) Injuries and different commitments. But we are competing with half the squad we had last year. We ended up with 11 men on the park against Telford and two out of the 11 were playing injured (one with broken hand and other with twisted ankle) and we nearly beat them.
Any way. Best of luck for the rest of your season and hopefully look forwards to playing both you and Lincoln in the prem next season.

Training will start next Friday 21st April 6:45 for a 7:00 start. If you are late, Kenny will keep you there later. If training times don't suit, we can bring them to 6:00 or 6:30 start t
I listened to Kenny and Chris Allen talking last night and Chris was commenting on what good ideas Kenny has, I am sure one and all will benifit from his style of coaching. I know Chris was intrigued and I am sure he will be down for a few sessions to see what's happening - once you have the Rugby League bug, you can'tshake it off, it lasts for your life time.
On the Wembley front, this was cancelled by the tour company and I will refund everyones monies including full deposit, Twickers isn't that popular and is not accomodating to rugby league.

You have it wrong, that season we beat Walnut but that was the first time we won it. You are correct, we did have a lot of the regulars out but still won
It was the season after when we held on and I mean "held on" at Horbury when Jim and Robbo got sent off, we beat them about 8-4

I think it was Al, the photo of Roy Rafferty is from the game against Walnut Warriors away, we needed to beat them to win the league with two

8 second teamers because of injury we thought we may lose our un beaten run but the lads pulled through and we were crowned champions, "great times"

Thanks for all the positve feed back from last weeks game, You were right we did beat Rotherham and it did get a wee bit tasty. Here is the match report if you want a read.
Match report 7/May/05 Rotherham giants v Lincoln City Knights

Lincoln city knights notched up their first win in the TotalRL.com summer conference, against last years divisional winners Rotherham Giants.

The game kicked off with the strong wind in the faces of the knights and playing up hill. It was quite evident it was going to be a game of 2 halves with who ever scored the most with the wind behind them being victorious.

Straight from the kick off the knights were under cosh with the physically bigger giants battering the knights line, with the big hits from Ben Newmarch the knights held out for 10 mins until the giants breached the line 4-0
Soon the Giants scored again 8-0
Then came the break through with Ben Newmarch?s brainstorming run and off load to new boy Pete Webster taking the knights into the giants half for the first time on the 17 min mark.
This followed by slick hands out to the centres send Mark Sherwood over for this third try in two games 8-4.

With the bit between their teeth the knights produced some outstanding rugby league through half backs Karl Beardshaw and Gareth Evans Culminating in Evans scoring out on the flanks 8-8.

After a regroup the Giant?s bigger pack started to take its toll on the Knights defence, although Craig Smith and James Beck put in some big hit the giants reached the line from close range.12-8 H.T

With the wind at their backs and playing downhill the knights seemed to think the win was in the bag however, the giants played their best rugby of the day scoring a 70 metre try that passed through 7 pairs of hands. 16-8
This was time for the man of the match Pete Webster to take centre stage battering the Giants line both in attack and defence. Of the back of this effort Gareth Evans started finding holes in the defence and created a close range try for Hooker Nat Parkin. Con Paul Hamnett 16-14.
Almost from the kick off Pete Webster scored again for the knights, converted by Paul Hamnett 16-20.

With their spirit broken, the giants got a little ugly with a 20 man brawl Ensuring however the knight came out unscathed and dominated the last 10 mins with a 70yard break from Capt Paul Hamnett and Jinking runs from Gareth Evans.

F.T 16-20

Coach Tony Holmes said the confidence the game has given he team is almost tangible I am extremely proud of the whole teams effort under such hard conditions.

Well, nice to see the summer conference in all its glory last weekend. Your coach (if thats what you can call him) being sent to the clubhouse for verbally abusing the referee, and your so-called head coach playing a full game at stand off. Come on, please don't kid the kidders. You played your coach, an ex-super league professional, at 6 to make sure you won against the team bottom of the league with no wins. It was so obvious what you did. The guy stuck out like a sore thumb, scored 2 and made most of the others. I thought you were all for the 'development of the game'. Well Done is all I can say, it bodes well with what we have been up against all season. I just want to make one point - if we were in it just to win, we would play all our best players from our first team. Summer conference is to DEVELOP PLAYERS!!!!!.......................................................................................................................................

Just like you said to develop players, did you see how the young Scrum-half scored our last try, Chris has been working with him all season on the training park and now feels that his presence on the field will bring out even more in his players, Ho development we could get your punchy boys a fight with Mike Tyson, talking to the lads from Hull Phoenix at the York 9s they also told the same story about your bullies

Something else bulldoggy droppings shud know......we come from a small town and to put the bodies and organisation into this conference is a remarkable achievment. To be smug about your achievments is fine and well when u are competing against big town and City teams but to be frightened to death by an isolated place like Thorne and Moorends is nothing to be proud of. In 2 years you lot will all be fragmented and playing for new teams in your mercenary ways but Thorne and Moorends will have something you nomadic parasites will never know and thats a sense of pride in the shirt and belonging.

Just to add onto Hookers comments, when you play with a set of new guys, some of who have no experience at Rugby League and some who are young enough to be your grandchildren, (who are using the summer conference for all the right reasons and not as a shooting barrell) against a set of hardened Leaguers, it's easy to throw them kind of comments about, but you wait while next season, I think you'll find a different mindset in the marauder camp, and I'm positive the result will be different - BULLDOGS - YOUR FULL OF BULLS***!!!

just lettin the prats know that even with an in experianced side we still almost won the game, to say this is our first season and we are bringing in new players who have never played rugby before then i dont think we are doing that bad, was a good hard game on sat n cant wait to play them again, think it might be a different out come next time;)

Who are all these players??!! You could play your coach- Allen, and we will still beat you. All of our players are from the Wetherby area, it just so happens that they play for other clubs in the winter, and we also have rugby union and footballers giving it a go so to say what you are saying is unfair. We are top of the league cos we can play rugby. Nuff said!!

To whoever replied to my comment. My statement was one of fact regarding last weeks performance. I'm sure what you say is true, but I think Chris has his work cut out. Yes you have 25 players or so, but can any of them play. Its ok to say this but I could drag 25 girls off the streets and put them on the team sheet and say this. My message to your coach is - Go back and play professional rugby (something you should never have stopped doing), and forget about coaching "development" teams. UP THE TIGERS!!

Bullfrog what you must remember is we know most of the players and where they are from, and why carn`t you get them in the winter

Saw you play at Bradford last week, and was very disappointed. I know Chris from a long time ago and I know he can coach players to play better than that!! A lot of people high up in the game think Chris can go places, but from this performance the only thing i can say is 'Chris - you best bring your boots to the next game old cock'. PS.I hear New Earswick are after him to coach?!

Dave :-Chris is into the development of Rugby League in our area, we have turned down offers from Yorkshire premier division players because our aim is getting locals playing rugby league, we had about seven players with Premier division experience missing last week and still had 25 locals on the team sheet most of them playing only their forth game of rugby league and three more on the touch line because we were only allowed 25 on the team sheet, we will improve will Dudley Hill most of the players where calling each other by numbers because they did not know each other and we did notice the first team went down at bottom NL3 team Huddersfield Underbank, bit of a b*llock dropped

02 June 2004 00:00:00
Don`t worry about us mate, we are trying to develop players not buy a team and that is why we will be playing over 25 local players every game, if you think back to when you beat us at home and the score when we played only six experienced players 14-4 to us and after half-time we brought most of them off and still held you untill the 75 minute when we took the lead 15-14 and then replaced 4 players to give them a game you then scored 78 and 80 minute to make it look good for you.
anyway this week we should have Ernie Lake, Danny Lake, Steve Allen, Paul Robson, Cliff Key and Mark Roach back put with these Craig Hookway, spud, Dave Knott,Shaun Lake, Gareth Monroe, Shaun Carver, Andy Evans, Brett Staveley and Martin Rowlands all bringing more experience to the side.
